The Legend of Zelda Wii Release Date: Twilight Princess HD, New Link Amiibo

If you are not familiar with Amiibos, they are the collectible figurines that are of Nintendo intellectual properties.  If used on the Nintendo Wii U controller, these collectibles can unlock bonuses in the game.  This is going to come into play as an Amiibo of Link, the hero from The Legend of Zelda game franchise, will be able to unlock new bonuses in Twilight Princess HD, an improved re-release of the original game from the original Wii. Not only could this new Link Amiibo unlock bonuses in Twilight Princess HD, but it could bring extra features in the long-awaited The Legend of Zelda for the Wii U, when it finally hits its release date.

This new Link Amiibo, as seen in the picture, is the wolf form of Link. If you are not familiar with Twilight Princess, the hero Link eventually learns how to transform into a wolf at will, and he is guided by a spirit named Midna, who rides on his back while in this form.

Ubergizmo reports that using the new Link Amiibo will unlock bonus content, giving the player character the ability to regenerate life and possible get arrows for the bow.  This will also grant players to a new dungeon known as The Twilight Cave, a never-before seen area that was not on the Wii version of the game.

It is not known if those that purchase Twilight Princess HD online will be able to access some of the features that the Amiibo could unlock. As many Amiibo collectors know, there are some figurines of Nintendo characters that are very rare, and near impossible to find. Forbes reports that perhaps Nintendo could release the new dungeon in the eShop, free of Amiibo restriction.

The Legend of Zelda Twilight Princess HD with the Link Amiibo will be released on March 4, 2016, and is available for pre-order at places like Best Buy now.

As for the new Zelda specifically designed for the Wii U, which still does not have a subtitle, Nintendo fans are still waiting for the follow-up for the last official Zelda game, Skyward Sword. Originally, Nintendo stated that one specific new Zelda game would arrive on the Wii U in 2015, but then an announcement came in 2015 that it would be delayed until at least 2016. At this point, the next Zelda game might have to wait until the next generation console from Nintendo, which is reported to be the Nintendo NX.

Surely the Nintendo NX will be Amiibo compatible, as the market for these Nintendo figurines is probably one of the things keeping the gaming company in business in spite of the competition from Sony and Microsoft. Hopefully, that special Wolf Link Amiibo figure will give some kind of bonuses in the next The Legend of Zelda for the Wii U game.
