'Mario & Sonic at The Rio 2016 Olympic Games' Release Date, Full Roster List for Wii U and Nintendo 3DS

Mario and Sonic, together with their friends, will have another round of epic showdown. The Mario & Sonic at the Rio 2016 Olympic Games is now coming to stores very soon. The fifth entry in the series will surely captivate old and young fans of classic games. Here's what we know so about the contents, release date and features of Mario & Sonic at the Rio 2016 Olympic Games.

The launching of the game on Nintendo 3DS is scheduled on March 18 for a suggested retail price of $39.99, according to Nintendo's official website. For the Wii U version of the game, expect it to be out later this year.

The new installment in the game series features bigger number of characters. From 20 characters, players can now choose 40 characters to use in different sporting events. Both Team Mario and Team Sonic have their additional 10 members.

The new members of Team Mario are Larry Koopa, Roy Koopa, Dry Bowser, Birdo Nabbit, Rosalina, Ludwig von Koopa, Wendy O. Koopa, Dry Bones and Diddy Kong.

For team Sonic, the new additions are Cream the Rabbit, Eggman Nega, Zavok, Espio the Chameleon, Rouge the Bat, Wave the Swallow, Jet the Hawk, Wave the Swallow, Sticks the Badger, and E-123 Omega.

Players can also train their teams to perform better. The game features training gyms for each team.  Team Mario can improve their skills at Peach's Training Gym, while Team Sonic can upgrade their game at Amy's Training Gym. These gyms equip characters with necessary skills to prepare for upcoming events.

The sporting events in the game are Table Tennis, Beach Volleyball, Association Football and Rugby sevens. In addition, players join Rhythmic Clubs for Gymnastics and 100m for Athletics. It is also interesting to see the Golf event, as it returns to the Olympic Games for the first time in 112 years.

Furthermore, Mario & Sonic at the Rio 2016 Olympic Games is also offering amiibo-compatible system. Certain amiibo figures can unlock new outfits and increase character's stats for 24 hours.

By tapping the Mario or Sonic amiibo figures to the New Nintendo 3DS system using the NFC Reader/Writer accessory, players can get awesome new features.
