NBA Rumors: Phoenix Suns Target Markieff Morris Swap For Kevin Love

The Phoenix Suns have been open about their goal of building a stronger and better NBA team by next season. With this in mind, one of the most widely talked about the trading chip is Markieff Morris. With an earlier rift against the Phoenix Suns, the trade rumors surrounding basketball star are no longer surprising.

Given the possibility, some NBA teams have reportedly expressed interest in Morris. These include the Los Angeles Lakers, Sacramento Kings and Houston Rockets. The latest NBA team that allegedly targets signing Morris is the Cleveland Cavaliers.

"Influential figures within the Cavaliers' locker room are open to the notion of trading for disgruntled Phoenix Suns power forward Markieff Morris," revealed Chris Haynes of Cleveland.com. Initially, reports disclosed that Morris could be brought in as a backup for Kevin Love and Tristan Thompson. However, sources are now claiming that the former Minnesota Timberwolves star's days in the Cleveland Cavaliers locker room might be numbered.

"There's been speculation for weeks that the Cavaliers might look to trade Love, since it appears that he cannot function effectively with Kyrie Irving, and they're not trading Kyrie Irving," shared Matt Moore of CBS Sports.

Love's stats have not been showing any signs of improvement as of late. If anything, the Canadian star's numbers are actually dipping in the previous games. Moreover, his inability to mesh with James and Irving is proving to be disastrous for the team that sacrificed so much just to sign him.

Moore further noted, "The Cavaliers are serious about winning a title, and the humiliating loss to the Warriors seems to have shown them how far they are from that goal. If things don't turn around under Lue, and fast, it can no longer be considered a surprise if the Cavaliers trade Love, even if there have yet to be any reports of substantive talks between the Cavs and a prospective target."

With the situations in mind, a Morris swap for Love could be a possibility. The Canadian star might be better off in a less stressful environment. At the moment, he is flocked with championship expectations from fans and the front office. Moreover, King James appears to have no plans of easing out the pressure any time soon. As for Morris, the Cleveland Cavaliers might just be the perfect fit for his aggressiveness and style. Like Love, the Phoenix Suns star would benefit in a change of environment.
