Outrage is permeating Enugu State in southeastern Nigeria, following the shocking discovery of dead bodies buried in shallow graves within a church foundation, Monday evening.

Corpses were found inside the foundation of the building under construction, which was being prepared for concrete, reports Daily Post.

The incident occurred within the Ugwuaji area of the state. The building is allegedly owned, according to residents in the area, by a ritualist who cloaked himself to be a man of God.

On Facebook, Babalola Abiola Acis stated he believes this is one of the many places of worship where this act is happening. "But if I decide to talk, people will say 'though shall not judge' but does this perpetrator deserves to live? It is a million dollar question."

Local sources indicated one of the workers at the site heard about the burial of deceased people inside the foundation and alerted security officials before the concrete was poured. Police officers received a tip about it after laborers dug the foundation open and discovered the corpses.

State Police spokesman Ebere Amaraizu said three decomposing bodies were discovered, and full-scale investigations have commenced to unmask circumstances surrounding the incident.

As one online reader posted, "People can be very wicked, and later people will be rushing to the church for miracles!"

Osita Obi posted he wondered what kind of church this place would turn out to be, with human beings as the foundation stone. "Not everyone you interact with these days is a human being. Fake pastors [are] everywhere with signs and wonders. Still lots of people keep trooping in without knowing what is behind the curtain."
