Jessa Duggar and Ben Seewald Accused Of 'Immodesty' Over Baby Spurgeon Photo

"19 Kids and Counting" Jessa Duggar and husband Ben Seewald are currently under flak for posting a picture of their baby Spurgeon Elliot wearing a onesie with nothing but a long checkered shirt over it. The picture sparked a debate on whether a baby's exposed legs can be considered "immodest."

Ben Seewald's Instagram post was bombarded with comments after he posted a cute picture of his Spurgeon Elliot with his chubby little legs exposed. One user commented that the parents should "respect" their son's modesty. The comment rubbed many followers the wrong way, commonly saying that there is nothing immodest about children's legs.

While adults not wearing pants is one thing, a child wearing no pants should not cause such a backlash, Seewald and Duggar's fans concurred. They also told the original commenter to quit judging, especially since it is an infant who is not wearing pants. This by all means and purposes, should be considered normal and nothing to huff and puff about.

However, the original commenter still defended himself and his comment. "I'm not saying it's wrong, and yes I realize he's a baby and 'most' people post pictures of their kids without pants. However, I also know that this is a modest family. It's a value of theirs. He is a baby now but one day he will be grown and due to his family, he may still have these pictures circulating on the Internet when he is 23. I was thinking of how he would feel, having been (and here I make an assumption that could be wrong) raised to be modest but to have anybody be able to view this," the original commentator said.

This seems to be one of the greatest challenges faced by the Duggar family, next to having their show "19 Kids and Counting" canceled by TLC, after last year's intense backlash over Josh Duggar's controversies. It seems the Duggars, who are known for being forthright about their conservative values, are easy targets for people who want to find fault in their actions. Any deviations from their conservative values, no matter how small, almost always warrant a diss from people. They have been called hypocrites countless times, especially after the family's television show has been cancelled.

Last year, Josh Duggar's daughter was snapped wearing pants. As the photo was posted on the Instagram account of Dillon King, husband to Amy Duggar, followers were quick to notice. Many said that Josh's wife Anna must already be distancing herself from the Duggars and defying the dress code for girls in the Duggar household. Because the family is known for being a stickler for morality and modesty rules, even their babies are being subjected to ridicule when followers found some little deviation.
