Jeremy Lin, the renowned evangelical Christian and point guard of the Houston Rockets, has released an update for this month's prayer requests.
In an email sent by Lin, the 27-year-old NBA superstar started his prayer request by thanking God for all of the blessings He has given him in his professional career. Although he admitted that he had a hard time adjusting to his professional life immediately after being drafted by the Golden State Warriors in 2010, he noted that he was able to gain a new perspective through the guidance of the Lord.
He then asked his fans to pray for his fast recovery as he is currently dealing with an ankle injury. According to MNR Daily, Lin was not able to complete the Hornets' match against the Utah Jazz on Jan. 27 after he was taken out of the game due to his injury. He was only able to play 17 minutes in the game but managed to secure two rebounds, one assist and four points.
It is not yet clear when Lin will be able to return to the court, but according to the athlete, the swelling on his ankle is the size of a tennis ball.
Aside from his health, the basketball star also requested prayers for his new teammates. He said that a lot of them are very open to the idea of learning more about their faith and developing a deeper and more fulfilling relationship with Christ. Through prayers, Lin believes his fellow Hornets will become more open to their spirituality.
He is also asking for guidance in his personal prayer life. He said that he intends to start a prayer journal soon in order to become a better listener to God.
The athlete also requested prayers for all students who are currently dealing with their own academic pressures and problems. He hopes that like other people, these students will also "find love and acceptance" through God.
Lastly, Lin addressed the other prayer requests that his fans sent in. For these, he hopes that people will find the strength to deal with whatever they are going through with the help of prayers.
"Please pray that through everything life throws your way, you would first and foremost seek God wholeheartedly and feel His unconditional love and peace that surpasses understanding," he said.
