Every year, in Barcelona, Spain, there is the biggest mobile phone show of the year with Mobile World Congress (MWC).  This year's GSMA MWC will take place next week from February 22-25, there will be a lot of new smartphones that are expected to be announced including the Samsung S7, LG G5, HTC One M10, and Xiaomi Mi 5.

Samsung Galaxy S7

Samsung traditionally unveils the latest of their flagship Android Galaxy S Series of smartphone here, and on February 21, the company is having a "Galaxy Unpacked" 2016 press event.  It is expected that the Galaxy S7 and the S7 Edge will be announced here according to Ars Technica.

According to The Verge, we know that the Galaxy S7 Edge will have a 3,600 mAh battery, thanks to an FCC filing.  That is much larger compared to the 3,000 mAh battery on the Note 5.  It is also rumored that the S7 Edge could have a larger screen size than the regular S7, even though the 2015 versions of the S6 and the S6 Edge had a display that was equal in area.

It is difficult to tell if the rumors about reducing the 16 Megapixel sensor for a 12 Megapixel sensor is true.  There is also a report that the S7 and S7 Edge could have some serious waterproofing, and it will support a microSD storage.  Other rumored features include its own version of Apple's 3D Touch screen, an eye-scanner, and USB Type C connector port.

LG G5

According to the International Business Times, LG has already sent off invitations to the official event of unveiling, set to take place on February 21st, a day before Mobile World Congress, an annual event in Barcelona, Spain, officially begins, similar to Samsung.

The G5 should have a 5.5 or 5.6 inch IPS LCD capacitive touchscreen with 1,440 x 2,560.  The battery should be about 3,000 mAh.  As for what is inside, it will be powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 processor, and have an Adreno 530 GPU.

As for the memory, expect 32 GB internal memory which will be expandable to 128 GB via microSD card.  The camera is expected to be 16 Megapixels for the primary, and then 8 Megapixels for the secondary.

HTC One M10

Unlike the other phones mentioned above, HTC doesn't have any confirmed phone that will arrive at MWC 2016, but the latest model is surely on the way.  Recent rumors of the device on Phone Arena has shown that the screen size could receive an upgrade.  Not only could it be 5.1 inches, but it could go as high as 5.2 inches, almost bringing it into phablet territory.  The resolution will be the same at 1440 x 2560 (QHD) resolution as well as Snapdragon SoC on the inside.  There could be some changes in store for the HTC One M10, like no stereo speakers, no HTC logo on the front, and a fingerprint scanner on the bottom of the phone's face.

Xiaomi Mi 5

Xiaomi has never appeared at MWC before, but it plans launching the newest flagship with the Xiaomi Mi 5.  It is predicted that the company will ship a new SoC with the Snapdragon 820.  Beyond that, there is little known about this phone that could be coming to the Western world for the first time.
