The Elder Scrolls 6 or Skyrim 2 Release Date, Rumors and News

Bethesda owns the rights to some very big video game franchises like the Fallout and the Elder Scrolls series.  Many fans of the latter have been looking forward to the sequel to Skyrim, but there isn't really any word on it.  This is the current Release Date, Rumors, and News about The Elder Scrolls 6 or possibly Skyrim 2

According to iDigitalTimes, Bethesda is working on three big games right now, and one of them is The Elder Scrolls 6Yibada reports that game director Todd Howard was asked about future Bethesda games at the DICE summit, and he did not elaborate on what other games the studio was working on besides Elder Scrolls 6.  In fact, Elder Scrolls 6 wasn't mentioned, but most people are aware that it is being worked on just like Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion was in development before Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind was released.

Many are beginning to believe that the wait time for this game is going to be long because of the pattern established with Bethesda's other hit game franchise, Fallout 4Fallout 4 was simply inevitable after the runaway success of Fallout 3, but it didn't really get a formal announcement until E3 2015.  E3, the Electronic Entertainment Expo, is a huge convention for video games held in the summer at the Los Angeles Convention Center, and all the gaming companies put out their best on display there.  Most have found it odd that an AAA game such as Fallout 4 was announced and then unveiled less than a few months later.  That is extremely quick turnaround time for a game of this type.

This might be why Bethesda hasn't made an announcement for the Elder Scrolls 6 as yet.  The business model of an anticipated game is to sit on any news of the release date, just so fans can simmer in the hype of it.  Then, once the game does get announced, make the wait time for it short.  This way, the game is essentially finished by the time it is announced, and a beta test can work out any final bugs.  This is probably the strategy that Nintendo is using for their Zelda Wii U game.

There is a report from N4BB that rumors point to an Elder Scrolls 6 or Skyrim 2 game pointed for a release date of 2016-2017.  If that is the case, then expect to see something formally announced at E3 2016 or 2017, obviously.

There have been debates about the title, on whether it will be called Elder Scrolls 6 or Skyrim 2, as the predecessor was such a hit.  There have been names thrown around such as Argonia, as this would be the land that the game takes place in.

It really is just a question of when the next chapter of The Elder Scrolls will be out.  The entire Elder Scrolls series has been around since 1994, which is about one game per 4.4 years.  Considering that Skyrim came out in 2011, it is practically overdue for a next game.
