Last year, Marvel and Netflix struck televised gold with the Daredevil and Jessica Jones series.  Season 2 of Daredevil will start on March 18th, and a recent preview has revealed that there will be more than just Marvel's vigilante Punisher involved.  Two other shows, Luke Cage and Iron Fist, are planning to debut later, just before all for merge together for The Defenders.  This is the latest news on the shows with their release dates and news.

Most of Season 2 trailers of Daredevil have featured the Punisher, but another popular vigilante figure from Marvel comics source material has recently appeared on another trailer for Daredevil Season 2: Elektra.  Fans of the show already knew that Elektra, played by Elodie Yung, was going to make an appearance.  In fact, there was kind of a reference made of her by Foggy (Elden Henson) to Matt (Charlie Cox) in Season 1.

It would appear that Matt and Elektra meet up once again, and get reacquainted romantically.  It looks like Elektra learns that Matt and Daredevil are one and the same, and they both take out the yakuza.

In one scene on the trailer, we see Matt's old mentor Stick (Scott Glenn) mentioning a group known as The Hand.  This is a ninja group from the comics that has some mystical ties, and there is a reference to some event known as "The Rising", is this some movement amongst the underworld that involves the mystical realm?

This is very interesting as one of the issues of these Defenders series is a missing piece: Iron Fist.  This series has been planned since last year, but very little has been known about it, until now.  The Toronto Sun reports that actor Finn Jones from Game of Thrones has been cast as Iron Fist (aka Danny Rand).    Rand is a loner who returns to New York City to fight against the criminal element with the power to summon the Iron Fist power.

Iron Fist represents the Netflix's universe first foray into mysticism.  Granted, this takes place in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, which is home to magical beings like Thor and probably Doctor Strange.  So far, Daredevil's powers are based on some strange science, while Jessica Jones and Luke Cage definitely have some metahuman augmented strength.

Soon, all of these four characters will team up.  Right now, Jessica Jones and Daredevil don't know each other, but have a mutual friend with Claire Temple.  Jesssica Jones and Luke Cage have met and were a couple on her first season, and it is not known when her second season will be.  When Luke Cage has his own show later this year, it will probably focus on his story.

It might be his show or Iron Fist's show that sees the two of them team up.  In the seventies and eighties, Luke Cage and Danny Rand used to work as a duo known as Power Man and Iron Fist, and many want to see a live-action version of this team-up.
