‘Red Dead Redemption 2’ Release Date and News; Announcement Set for E3 2016?

It is pretty obvious that Rockstar had something huge on their hands when they released Red Dead Redemption to the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 back in 2010.  Once it became a hit, it was pretty apparent that Rockstar had a new franchise on their hands that was almost as big as Grand Theft Auto (GTA).  It has been six years and the next generation of PlayStation 4 and Xbox One since then, so when will Red Dead Redemption 2 be released?

There are reports that Red Dead Redemption 2 could be announced by Rockstar at E3 2016, according to iDigitalTimes.  If you aren't familiar with E3, it is the Electronic Entertainment Expo, a big video game event that is held every year at the Los Angeles Convention Center in June.  It is often where the big video game companies make their big announcements.

It is possible that this is a fake, and Rockstar has never released an AAA title at E3 before, so it is not likely that the company will start now.  For those that are not familiar with an AAA game, it is a game with a big budget and the best of developers working on it, and a sequel to Red Dead Redemption would most certainly be that.  Of course, there is a first time for everything, but assuming that the sequel to the wild west open world game is going to be announced at E3 2016 by Rockstar, that would probably give it a 2017 release date.

It is rumored that the sequel will feature more than one playable character and have a much larger world than the original Red Dead Redemption with Mexican deserts and North American landscapes.   This ensures that the game will be many worlds to explore with some railway lines and urban locales as well, which is what most games do whenever they have a sequel.

It is also possible that the next game installment would be called Red Dead Redemption 2: Legends of the West, according to BREATHEcast.  There is also talk about upgrading the original game so it could appear on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, which would be a lot easier to make. Perhaps this is where all the rumors of a new Red Dead Redemption are coming from.  Of course, it could always be that Red Dead Redemption could be made on the list for backwards compatibility.

Also, it should be noted that Rockstar is probably working on another big franchise, and I am talking about Grand Theft Auto 6.  Whatever the case, it looks like Rockstar is pretty busy, but we still don't have a solid release date for Red Dead Redemption 2.
