Xiaomi 5 US Release Date, Specs and Price: Pre-Orders Now Available Worldwide

The Xiaomi Mi 5 was revealed during February's Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2016. The device is now available in China and selected countries worldwide. According to Xiaomi's VP Hugo Barra, the company would focus on the core markets where it currently operates. So, it is expected that buyers from China, India, Hong Kong, Malaysia, Indonesia, Singapore, Philippines and Brazil will get the Xiaomi Mi 5 first. After that, the device will be available in the United States and other western countries, as per reports from International Business Times.

The Xiaomi Mi 5 is a dual-SIM handset that features a sophisticated design with glass panels and a metallic frame. The smartphone only weighs 129 grams and sports a slim body of 7.3 mm.  In addition, it has 5.15-inch IPS LCD display screen that offers HD resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels.

The processing power of Xiaomi Mi 5 is powered with the latest Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 64-bit quad-core processor, which should absolutely boost the performance of the device. The 32GB and 64 GB models of the device come with 3GB of LP-DDR4 RAM, while the 128GB version has 4GB of RAM

In order to extend the power of Mi 5, Xiaomi installed it with 3000mAh of battery capacity, partnered with quick charge technology. The handset will be available in black, white, gold and pink variants.

Many tech companies are racing to develop the best camera technology. For the camera features of  Mi 5, expect it to be top of the class. The device boasts a 16-megapixel for rear camera and 5-megapixel for front-facing camera.  It also offers phase detection autofocus and dual LED flash.

As for the price of Xiaomi Mi 5, PC Advisor said the 3GB RAM+32GB model is around $306 and the 3GB RAM+64GB model is around $351. The Mi 5 Pro is priced at $413.

Interestingly, Xiaomi gained energetic response from buyers in China for its Mi 5 smartphone. During its first sale on March 1, it reportedly sold a record of 4 million units in a matter of a few minutes. Tech experts say the Mi 5 will definitely challenge key players like Samsung Galaxy S7, LG 5, iPhone 6s series in the smartphone market.
