Bungie has been doing some Livestream videos to advertise their new Patch 2.2.0 Update, which the fans will be able to pick up on April 12 for a price of free.  The Patch 2.2.0 update is the biggest amount of content given to players since last September's "The Taken King" expansion pack.  This is what is known about the Destiny Patch 2.2.0 Update Release Date and News; Prison of Elders, New Bosses, Weapons, Armor, and Light Cap of 335.

Patch 2.2.0 has some new PvE challenges, and this includes a new quest line, two new strikes, as well as 16 weeks of "unique" Prison of Elders end-game activity, according to VG 24/7.  Two weeks ago, Bungie unveiled the new Prison of the Elders reworking with their first livestream event on Twitch, and this new end-game activity is the only way to get to the increased Light cap of 335.

This Prison of Elders will now be set to two difficulties, Level 41 and Level 42, with four new bosses and new modifiers added to the game.  Level 41 includes match-making, has a recommended Light level of 260, and has normal PoE format which drops gear to 320 Light.  As for Level 42, also known as Challenge of the Elders, there is no match-making, but it comes with a recommended Light Level of 320 and is a point-based activity that the player can win 335 weapons and armor.

The Challenge of the Elders is fought over three rounds, and the fireteam's score is tracked on a card known as the Elder's Sigil, with High Score and Cumulative Score also tracked.  Challenge of the Elders resets every Tuesday, wiping the player's cumulative score, and it will have a total of sixteen unique encounters.

The April update brings with it the Blighted Chalice Strike with a Taken hulk boss named Malok.  There is also the Winters Run Strike to fight against the Archon Priest.  The difficulty has also been increased to Court of Oryx, Heroic strikes, Nightfalls, as well as the King's Fall raid.  There will be some bigger rewards because of it, though.

Speaking of rewards, there will be five new sets of armor. Three are just revamped faction sets from Dead Orbit, New Monarchy, and Future War Cult.  The other two are complete new and are called Spektar and Desolate.  There is also an addition of Sterling Treasure that gives new armor pieces and Chroma to color weapons and armor.  The Chroma system has been updated so characters can have better customization options with shading and such.

The Infusion system will be changed to give 1-1 levels, and Year-one gear will be upgraded.  There will also be new emotes, and the Zen Meteor.  What is the Zen Meteor, it is a new exotic sniper rifle that is a PlayStation exclusive, not available to those that play Destiny on the Xbox.

In addition to the many upgrades to PvE, there will also be changes made to PvP.  This includes an increase to the revive time, as well as a reduction to the revive proximity.  There will be no more legendary engrams for Iron Banner, and the overshields will be weakened.

The weapon class has also been changed, with a zoom length being increased on all sniper rifles.  Hand cannons have their capacity increased, and fusion rifles have their stability increased.  Players can also begin rounds with special ammo, and there are going to be some special weapons upgrades.
