Last year in October, the cute Disney Tsum Tsum plush collectibles that have been a big seller in the Disney stores, added some new characters to their ranks. Disney brought Marvel super heroes to the collection, to the delight of fans of the mobile app game and Marvel fans around the world. In February, the Japanese game makers released the Marvel Tsum Tsum game in Japan for iOS and Android. Now, Marvel Tsum Tsum fans have even more of a reason to rejoice- the favorite game/toys are coming to a comic store in the near future!

Marvel announced on the thirteenth, that an all-new limited series, Marvel Tsum Tsum #1 will be coming out in August. The stackable Marvel characters will be meeting up with their super hero counterparts in a four-part series. Writer Jacob Chabot and artist David Baldeon are teaming up in this adventure. A group of Brooklyn teens happen upon a crate of Tsum Tsums that have fallen to Earth on their way to The Collector. The stackable creatures will see action with their "real-life" counterparts, but like Buzz Lightyear in Toy Story, the Tsum Tsum characters will think they THEY are the real ones.

According to an interview with Nerdist.com, writer Chabot says, "The trick is coming up with a narrative that makes the Tsum Tsum more than just fuzzy versions of your favorite heroes. I'm attempting to channel all of the kids' movies and comics I loved back in the day (and still do!) into something I hope people will like!" He also added, "As far as putting the Tsum Tsums alongside the regular heroes, the Marvel Universe has successfully incorporated toy lines into its history before. Plus there's already a talking duck. The Tsum Tsums should be able to fit right in alongside all that craziness."

The associate editor for Marvel, Devin Lewis also explained a bit more of what they are hoping for the series, saying, "We are really focusing on making this first story great and bringing everything Marvel fans love to the fore-we've got a terrific mix of authentic Marvel action, humor, and characters and together it all really sings. Marvel Tsum Tsum is unique because it's bringing the Tsum Tsums into the Marvel Universe. Not only are the Tsum Tsums interacting with classic Marvel heroes, they believe they are the classic Marvel heroes, which gives us room to tell a really fun story. And they could even appear in future Marvel stories. That's incredibly exciting to us."

Not only will there be this mini-series, but there will also be 20 special Marvel Tsum Tsum Takeover Variants coming to Marvel comic book titles throughout the month of August, including the one pictured at the top, entitled "Captain America: Steve Rogers #5" by Helen Chen. There are no plans currently to bring the Tsum Tsum Star Wars characters to the comic books as of yet.
