Cristiano Ronaldo slammed home the final kick to give Real Madrid a 5-3 victory against Atletico Madrid.  After the decisive kick had gone high to the goalkeeper's left, the wall of Real fans behind the goal roared.  Now, here's the latest round-up of update about Real Madrid vs. Atletico Madrid UEFA Champions League final.

For 90 minutes of regulation plus 30 minutes of extra time in the game, Ronaldo is out sight. His legs tightened up, and his offensive game is ineffective. However, when the decisive moment came, he gave his best shot to beat crosstown rival Atlético Madrid.

With the recent championship title, Real Madrid proves that they are still the most successful club in European Cup history. On the other hand, Atlético Madrid is still searching for its first title. These two teams played for the Champions League title two years ago in Lisbon. Real Madrid also emerged victorious in that game with a final score of 4-1.

With 16 goals this season, Ronaldo is considered as the leading goal scorer of Champions League. Even though he is far from full fitness throughout the game, he managed to make a game-winning goal.

According to Wall Street Journal, Ronaldo begged Real manager Zinedine Zidane to let him take the final kick. Zidane didn't argue, and the football superstar won his third career Champions League title.

Interestingly, Zidane has been managing the Real for only five months, but he is now the second man in the club's history to win the Champions League as a manager and a player. Just like Ronaldo, he also scored a game-winning goal for Real in a Champions League finals game. Most the team's current players had watched him as children.

On the other hand, it was a bitter end for Atletico Madrid coach Diego Simeone. After the game, Washington Post reported Simeone evaded questions from media about whether he would stay at the club.  The recent loss is the club's second defeat against Real Madrid in the Champions League final.

Sports analysts say Atlético's counterattack philosophy did not work.  Their strategy requires the defence to bend without breaking. After that, the offensive players should take advantage of the few opportunities to score a goal.  All season, this tactic worked perfectly well, but it is not effective against Real Madrid.

As the celebration goes on, stay tuned with us for updates.
