On Wednesday, 2K Sports announced Indiana Pacers star Paul George is the cover of the Standard Edition of NBA 2K17. The game developer also revealed the popular basketball video game would be released on September 20 for the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. For those who pre-order the game, they will get it on September 16.

George isn't the only cover athlete of NBA 2K17, retired NBA superstar Kobe Bryant is featured on the two editions of the game -- The Legends Edition and the Gold Edition.

Aside from early access, pre-orderers will receive a bunch of freebies once the game becomes available.

Pre-order the NBA 2K17 Standard Edition ($59.99) to get 5,000 Virtual Currency and MyTEAM Bundle, which includes 3 packs with guaranteed Paul George Free Agent card.

2K Sports has not yet revealed gameplay improvements or modes of the game, but the George's cover art could give us clues. The image on the left highlights George in his Team USA uniform, hinting that the game might have an Olympic mode. It is also rumoured virtual characters on MyPlayer will appear in the Olympics. Gamers have been asking for an Olympic event in NBA 2K games, so it is a good addition in the game.

Interestingly, the game's official Twitter account posted an image of George along with six other player silhouettes. Based on the player's shadows, Kevin Durant of Oklahoma City Thunders might be the guy on the far left and Karl-Anthony Towns of Minnesota Timberwolves might be the player next to George's immediate left.
