Huawei, the world's third-biggest smartphone maker, recently released the Huawei MateBook which is a 2-in-1 tablet. By the looks of it, the device is set to outlast Microsoft's Surface Pro 4 and Apple's iPad Pro. Now, here's what is currently known about Huawei Matebook review, specs and features.
The 12-inch screen of the MateBook is very good. It has a healthy 2160 x 1440 resolution, so expect images are clear and bright. In terms of thickness, it matches the iPad Pro at 6.9 mm. The Matebook is also lighter than Apple's tablet at 1.41 pounds versus 1.57 pounds.
According to Digital Trends, the Matebook and iPad Pro comes with optional detachable keyboard and stylus. However, MateBook is easier to use because it features a touchpad, which iPad Pro lacks.
Furthermore, Huawei's tablet has incredibly thin fingerprint scanner between the volume buttons that supports Windows Hello fast sign-in. The tablet also sports cleaner design than most other tablets since it forgoes a rear camera. It only offers 5-megapixel webcam at the front, whereas the iPad Pro has 8-MP main camera and a 1.2-MP selfie-shooter.
In terms of processing power, the Matebook is powered with a sixth-generation Intel Core chip running at 3.1GHz and partnered by 4GB or 8GB of RAM. With these specifications, the Matebook is clearly the winner. It offers bigger internal memory and faster processor than the iPad Pro.
For connectivity options, Huawei Matebook features Bluetooth 4.1, Wi-Fi, USB 3.1, Type C, and headset and keyboard smart connector. In comparison, Apple iPad Pro has Bluetooth 4.2, Wi-Fi, 4G LTE and headphone connector.
When it comes to price, Huawei's tablet ($699) is cheaper than the Surface Pro 4 ($899). The tablet is also more budget-friendly than the 12.9-inch iPad Pro ($799).
However, according to the Verge, the MateBook do not have reliable battery power, which is considered as one of the main attractions of productivity tablets. In a standard rundown test, the device only last 4 hours and 26 minutes. The iPad Pro reportedly lasts for 9 hours.
As a conclusion, it's hard to recommend the iPad Pro over the Huawei Matebook. The latter offers higher specs, a full desktop operating system and sophisticated design for a lower starting price than Apple's iPad Pro.
