Google recently announced that Android N, the latest version of Android operating system, will be officially released as Android Nougat.  The official name of  Android 7.0 came from hundreds of suggestions submitted by users online.

The Mountain View-based tech giant introduced the Android N at I/O conference last March. The company also said it would become available publicly "later this summer." The system is now on its second beta, which is mostly stable.

Sony Xperia Z3 is one of the few devices that ran on the Android N Preview. Sony is known for releasing new Android system to its subscribers immediately. The phone maker did not have many problems when it comes to updating its devices to Android Marshmallow, so it is expected it might do the same with Android N.

Sony Xperia Z2, Xperia Z2 Tablet, Xperia Z3+, Xperia Z3, Xperia Z3 Compact, Xperia Z4 Tablet, Xperia Z5 Premium, Xperia Z5 Compact and Sony Xperia Z5 received the Android 6.0 Marshmallow. However, it is not yet clear if these devices will also be upgraded to Android Nougat.

A representative from Sony said they don't have any information or update as of now regarding the Android Nougat release date on Sony devices, as per report from Tech Radar,

For Samsung devices, the company has not yet released any official statement about its Android Nougat update. However, several tech websites reported the company's latest smartphones will definitely receive the firmware this year.

Here are some of the Samsung devices that might get Android N:

  • Samsung Galaxy Tab S2
  • Samsung Galaxy Note 5
  • Samsung Galaxy S6
  • Samsung Galaxy S6 Active
  • Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge
  • Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge+
  • Samsung Galaxy S7

Furthermore, owners of the latest gadgets from HTC will no doubt have the Android N. The same source from Tech Radar said HTC One M9, HTC One A9 and the recently released HTC 10 will get the new Android system later this year. However, there are reports that HTC One M8 will not be included in the Android 7 update.

For owners of the now-defunct Nexus 9 tablet, they can participate in the developer preview program of Android N. Interested users should check this link for more information.
