After director Patty Jenkins released several images of the upcoming ‘Wonder Woman’ film on social media sites, fans have been left wondering how DC’s female-fronted superhero film will play out especially with the scarcity of details about its plot.

Now, fans have a major reason to be pleased about the most recent revelation as Warner Bros. just released the official synopsis for Gal Gadot’s period-action film before the San Diego Comic-Con 2016 begins.

With the script penned by ‘Grey’s Anatomy’ screenwriter Alan Heinberg and DC chief creative officer Geoff Johns, ‘Wonder Woman’ is based on a screenplay by Heinberg and Zack Snyder.

The official movie plot suggests the Amazonian princess’ experiences in the past. It also gives a brief account of the first exchange of the “unconquerable warrior” with the outside world as well as her fate when it comes to overcoming battles.

“Raised on a sheltered island paradise, when an American pilot crashes on their shores and tells of a massive conflict raging in the outside world, Diana leaves her home, convinced she can stop the threat,” the film’s synopsis states. “Fighting alongside man in a war to end all wars, Diana will discover her full powers...and her true destiny."

With Gadot taking the lead role, the Israeli actress will be joined by Chris Pine as Steve Trevor. Other cast members include Connie Nielsen, Robin Wright, David Thewlis, Danny Huston, Elena Anaya, Saïd Taghmaoui and Ewen Bremner.

Taking on the role of Wonder Woman in the midst of male-dominated stories, Gadot promises fans they can expect changes in the world of superhero movies in which male characters are often adored.

"Being a mother with a three-and-a-half year old daughter, it's really important for me that, it's really important for me to show her..." the 31-year-old actress said in an interview with Cinema Blend. "Oh my God, it's really important for me to show her that women are great and women can follow their dreams and do what they feel like doing.”

Moreover, the ‘Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice’ actress is thrilled to be able to contribute to the advocacy of female empowerment.

"I'm very happy that I have the opportunity to show the strong, the strongest and the more empowered side of women, and I hope women are going to love it, and also men, and children, and babies, and animals,” she further stated.

The upcoming ‘Wonder Woman’ movie is scheduled for release on June 2, 2017 in the U.S. and the U.K.

‘Wonder Woman’ will be followed by the superhero ensemble ‘Justice League’ movie in November 2017 and ‘The Flash’ standalone film in 2018.

Although plot details for the ‘Wonder Woman’ movie were announced as part of Warner Bros.’ press release, an official announcement for the ‘Justice League’ synopsis is yet to be released.
