Despite his freak accident on the ‘Maze Runner: Death Cure’ set last March, actor Dylan O’ Brien remains a crucial part of the sixth season of ‘Teen Wolf.’ The actor’s role in the upcoming installment, which will be the final season for the MTV series, is expected to be more significant than ever.

"Stiles is a big part of the season because a lot of this season's mystery revolves around him," showrunner Jeff Davis shared in an interview with Entertainment Weekly. "We're going to see just what Stiles' friendship means to Scott, Lydia and Malia. We're going to see why exactly he's Scott's best friend, what it means that he's Malia's human anchor, and what his will-they-or-won't-they relationship is with Lydia."

Moreover, Davis assured fans they can look forward to Stiles having several major life moments before the first half of the season ends- one in the beginning and another at the end.

"[There is] a very definitive scene in episode 1 on the question of Stydia, so I would suggest Stiles and Lydia fans to watch," Davis stated, explaining that the series will draw attention to Stiles' would-be law enforcement career at the last part of season 6A.

"It's something we touch on in the last episode, 610," he added.

Aside from the first episode, the series creator clarified that putting O’ Brien’s character in the middle of the mystery that is to happen in the new season had always been the idea, emphasizing how the story will mainly revolve around Stiles despite the actor’s injury earlier this year.

"When we were going into discussing this season, knowing that Dylan O'Brien had a big movie he was going off to do, we wanted to make sure that Stiles was going to be a very important part of 'Teen Wolf' 6A,” Davis added.

More villains are expected to show up in ‘Teen Wolf’ season six, including the Ghost Riders who are capable of erasing people from memory, and Stiles could be their next target.

Series star Tyler Posey also explained how the sixth season is a "reminiscent" one, particularly for his and O’ Brien’s characters- Stiles and Scott.

"You fall in love with Stiles every episode," Posey said. "It really makes you think of all the cool stuff that we've done with Stiles and Scott over the past few years."

During the MTV series’ panel at the San Diego Comic-Con 2016, Davis opened up about their involvement in the series over the past years, thanking everyone who has been part of the show.

"Teen Wolf has been an extraordinary journey, one that captured the hearts and imaginations of fans more than we could've ever imagined,” the screenwriter said. “We're eternally grateful for the support we've received over these past six years and we're excited to take our brave fans on one last, thrilling adventure."

Consisting of 20 episodes, ‘Teen Wolf’ season six is set to premiere in November on MTV.
