Nintendo NX vs PlayStation Neo vs. Xbox Scorpio: Specs, Release Date and Price Comparison

In the next coming months, prepare to witness the battle between gaming industry's three biggest names. Nintendo, Sony, and Microsoft are set to release NX, PlayStation Neo and Xbox Scorpio before 2017 ends. Now, let's see who has the best gaming console on the planet.

Nintendo NX

Based on the latest patent application of Nintendo, the NX console will feature detachable controllers. This patent application supports early rumors claiming the console is a hybrid gadget that can be connected to a home gaming system. The patent filed with the United States Patent and Trademark Office reveals the controller add-on can connect to the side of a portable gaming console.

Interestingly, NX's detachable controllers will use an infrared camera to send signals instead of electric current. A report from IGN says the removal of electrical components in the controller will lower the cost of the console.

The same source from IGN says Nintendo might release the NX on March 2017, and it might be priced around $270.

For processing power, Nintendo's upcoming console will reportedly have Xbox One-like capabilities. If this is true, the NX has enough power to stand toe-to-toe against gaming industry's best consoles.

PlayStation NEO

Sony has a significant advantage against Nintendo and Microsoft as it can sell its next-generation console early. The company's PlayStation Neo is rumored to become available on October, and it is expected to boast a higher CPU, GPU, and memory in addition to its 4k capabilities.

It is also worth mentioning that the launching of PlayStation Neo would coincide with the release of PlayStation VR (Virtual Reality) device. With higher processing power, the Neo will certainly have enough power to support graphics-heavy VR games. Also, the Neo will double the processing power of the PlayStation 4.

As of now, Sony has not yet revealed the definite price of NEO, but GMA News estimates the console would cost around $700.

Xbox Scorpio

Microsoft's Head of Xbox Phil Spencer describes Xbox Scorpio as the "the most powerful console ever." The company's next-generation console is said to have 4k video support and compatibility to all Xbox One titles.

It is reported that Xbox Scorpio will have powerful six teraflops of graphical performance power. That means the console will be six times more powerful than the original Xbox One.

There are also reports that Microsoft is now talking with the creators of Oculus Rift for the Project Scorpio. If that is true, the console might be compatible with Oculus Rift's titles. However, as of now, nothing is confirmed.

Rumors around the internet claim the console might cost around $750.

As for Xbox Scorpio's launching, we might see it in the third quarter of 2017. Microsoft is still tight-lipped about the console's full capabilities, so we can only rely on rumors and speculation.
