We are now halfway through the month of August, and it means Xbox Live subscribers can now play WWE 2K16 and Beyond Good & Evil HD. However, several subscribers are disappointed on some of the free games offered this month. Now, rumors around the internet claim "Assassin's Creed: Black Flag," "Red Dead Redemption" and an indie title will be offered in September 2016.
Although Microsoft has not yet announced the next month's line-up of free games for Xbox One and Xbox 360, there are several rumors about the possible titles that will be offered to Xbox Live Gold members.
Rockstar Games' Red Dead Redemption could be included in September's free games with Gold. There's a high possibility that it would be offered next month as the sequel to the original title -- Red Dead Redemption 2 -- is expected to appear on Gamescom 2016 in Germany. GameSpot previously reported Take-Two Interactive, Rockstar Games' parent company, hinted that its developers are "hard at work on some exciting future projects that will be revealed soon." Therefore, it would make sense to offer the original Red Dead Redemption to generate hype for its sequel.
Assassin's Creed: Black Flag is also rumored to become available as a free game Xbox game next month. This 2013 action-adventure title is the sixth installment in Assassin's Creed series. Gaming analysts say offering this game would be a good to move to promote the forthcoming Assassin's Creed movie, which will include theaters on December 21, 2016.
Meanwhile, Spelunky is no longer available for this month, but Xbox Live members can now play Beyond Good & Evil HD and WWE 2K16 for free. WWE 2K16 is available from August 16-September 15, while Beyond Good & Evil HD is available from August 16-31 on Xbox 360 and Xbox One. For the other free Xbox title, Warriors Orochi 3 Ultimate is playable until August 31.
While waiting for the announcement of September 2016 free games, check out this week's lineup of offers on Xbox Games Store. Grand Theft Auto V ($36) is available with 40% discount and Red Dead Redemption ($19.50) is up for grabs with 35% discount. However, Red Dead Redemption might be offered as a free title next month, so it is a good move to buy other discounted titles like FIFA 16 ($15) and Max Payne 3 ($110).
