Jessa Duggar-Seewald Expecting Second Child, May Name Baby After 'Heroes of the Faith'

Jessa Duggar Seewald, the former co-star of TLC's "19 Kids and Counting", has announced she and her husband, Ben Seewald, are expecting their second child this February.

"We are overjoyed to announce that Spurgeon has a new title in life as 'big brother!' " the conservative Christian couple told People Magazine. "We are so thankful that God is adding to our family."

The report notes that the pregnancy news comes as a surprise to the couple, who are already parents to 9-month-old son Spurgeon. The duo married in November 2014 at First Baptist Church in Bentonville, Arkansas, and famously kissed for the first time behind closed doors.

The pregnancy is expected to be documented on Jessa's TLC reality show "Counting On," which follows the lives of some of the Duggar family daughters.

"2017 is shaping up to be a wonderful year already, and we know Spurgeon will do a great job in his new role," the couple added in their statement. "Having Spurgeon has been such a wonderful blessing, and we cannot wait to see the face of this sweet new baby (or babies!)."

In a video accompanying their announcement, Jessa said they feel like they're having a boy but don't know the gender because they haven't yet had an ultrasound.

"I won't be able to wait till baby's born to know the gender so we'll probably end up finding out," Jessa said. "But we haven't decided yet if we're going to share that news with everybody or keep it a secret again."

Earlier, the young mom revealed she doesn't plan to copy her family's signature naming practice: "We don't want a letter theme," she told People last year. "The only theme we might have are using names of heroes from the Christian faith."

"We talked about family names," Jessa added. "Maybe Benjamin Michael the second. But Ben didn't like that. We've talked about incorporating a family name."

The couple's son is named after Charles Spurgeon, a British preacher, and his middle name Elliot honors late missionaries Jim and Elisabeth Elliot, who worked in South America.

Jessa, along with her 18 siblings and parents, Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar, formerly starred in TLC's hit reality show, "19 Kids and Counting." However, the show was pulled after 27-year-old star Josh Duggar admitted to sexually molesting children, including his sisters.

Jessa and Ben's baby news comes just weeks after Jessa's sister Jinger Duggar announced her engagement to soccer player Jeremy Vuolo.

"Counting On" returned on Tuesday, August 23, on TLC at 8 p.m. ET.
