After Nexus devices started to receive their Android N Nougat last month, Samsung device owners are now curious when they would receive the upgrade. Latest reports say the operating system is already under modification stage to make it compatible to Samsung's smartphones and tablet.

Here's everything you need to know about Android 7.0 Nougat release date on Samsung Galaxy Note 7, Samsung Galaxy S7 models and Samsung Galaxy S6 models.

SamMobile reported the first batch of Android Nougat updates would roll out in the four quarter of 2016, which includes October, November and December. In addition, The Korea Times published Samsung will release its first Android 7.0 Nougat update to the Galaxy Note 7.

Based on previous releases, the rumored release date of Android Nougat to Samsung devices seems to be true. For example, the Galaxy S6 models started its beta testing for Marshmallow update October last year. After that, the firmware rolled out in December. It is highly likely that Samsung will port Android N to its flagships before the start of 2017.

Industry insiders claim the Galaxy S6, Galaxy S6 edge, Galaxy S6 edge+, Galaxy S7, Galaxy S7 Edge, and Galaxy Note 5 will be the first batch of Samsung smartphones to receive Android Nougat. In Samsung tablets, the Galaxy Tab S2 is expected to get the update in the second quarter of 2017.

For T-Mobile subscribers, the mobile carrier announced its Galaxy S7, Galaxy S7 Edge, Galaxy Note 7, Galaxy Note 5, Galaxy S6, and Galaxy S6 Edge Plus models will receive Nougat update soon. As of now, the update is under "Manufacturer Development".

Software update is a long process. It requires a partnership between software developer, device manufacturer and mobile carrier. In the case of Android Nougat, after its initial program is developed, device manufacturers and mobile carriers have to customize it to make compatible on their respective devices.

As for the features of Android Nougat, Wired reported it allows users to run two apps simultaneously, putting an end to awkwardly flipping back and forth between apps using the 'recent apps' button.

Additionally, the firmware offers quick settings that give users easier access to different menus and configuration. Users can also easily navigate around quick settings tiles to suit their own priorities.
