The Big Three era in the Miami Heat ended when Dwyane Wade left for the Chicago Bulls. With Chris Bosh still uncertain about his future with the Hassan Whiteside team and LeBron James highly unlikely to return to Miami anytime soon, the Pat Riley squad is expected to undergo a rebuilding phase. However, it looks like one player from the LeBron James era is making a comeback in the roster as a Mario Chalmers contract is said to have been finalized via free agency.

At the moment, the Miami Heat appears to be building their roster around Hassan Whiteside and Goran Dragic. While the big man looks like a highly capable replacement for Dwyane Wade as the leader of the team, a veteran presence is still needed to make the Miami Heat a contender. This is where Mario Chalmers comes in.

In the past NBA season, both Mario Chalmers and Chris "Birdman" Anderson were main topics for trades. At the time, the former Memphis Grizzlies star pointed out that he had been a huge part of the success of the Big Three. That is, Mario Chalmers reminded everyone how much he contributed to the back-to-back championships led by LeBron James, Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh.

Despite his contributions, though, the Miami Heat still opted to trade Mario Chalmers. Things went downhill from there as he later on suffered an Achilles injury. This pushed the Memphis Grizzlies to release him. Will a reunion with Pat Riley be possible?

It depends. At this point, no official comment has been given by any of the parties involved in the NBA trade rumor. According to reports, Mario Chalmers remains a free agent and is still looking for an NBA team willing to take him in. However, a reunion with the Miami Heat is not completely off the table.

In the past, the Miami Heat felt that Mario Chalmers would be wasted to simply play a small role in the lineup. With Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh gone, however, some fans believe that this might be the chance for the former Memphis Grizzlies star to prove his worth to the team. That is, Mario Chalmers might show off his wares by taking a bigger role in the Miami Heat alongside Hassan Whiteside and Goran Dragic.

What do you think? Can Mario Chalmers prove his worth to the Miami Heat this time? Can the veteran star help Hassan Whiteside and Goran Dragic beat the record of the Big Three of LeBron James, Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh?
