Tekken 7: Fated Retribution is expected to become available next year for PC, PS4 and Xbox One. Aside from new characters, gamers want to know if the new sequel has cross-platform feature. According to game producer Katsuhiro Harada, the cross-platform play is possible if not for security risks.

Now, here's everything you need to know about Tekken 7: Fated Retribution new characters, story and update.

Typically, PS4 users can only play with their fellow PS4 users, and it is the same case for Xbox One users. In cross-platform play, Xbox One, PS4 and PC users can play together. Microsoft expressed its support for the idea, but developers behind Tekken 7 are skeptical about it.

On Twitter, Harada shot the cross-platform feature down by saying "security risks" could ruin the game. He explained it not is a matter of the technology to put PS4/XB1/PC players in one server, but there are "potential security risks alongside the community perceived reputation of PC gamers being cheaters."

Harada clarified he is not saying all PC gamers are cheaters as he considers himself a PC gamer as well, but rather this the perception of console gamers to PC gamers.

Furthermore, GameRant says Tekken 7 developers may have a hard time convincing console gamers to use the cross-platform because of PC gamers' reputation. In addition, the backlash would be severe if the developers can't create a secured cross-platform system.

So far, Tekken 7 has 32 fighters. Akuma and Master Raven are the highlights of the new sequel. We expect more characters will be revealed in the next few months before the game becomes available.

For those who are looking for Lei Wulong, Attack of the Fanboy says the character's status is still unknown. Based on Harada's recent tweet, it seems not many gamers are using Wulong in the previous Tekken games.

Harada said the character has a chance to be included in the new roster of characters, but "his usage rate was too low." Good thing, Wulong might be out in the launch roster, but he may be added in the game as future DLC character.

As we mentioned earlier, Tekken 7: Fated Retribution will be released in early 2017 for PC, Xbox and PS4. Aside from improved gameplay engine, there will be a long story mode in the upcoming sequel.
