'Game of Thrones' Season 7 Cast Rumors: Rock Star Joins HBO Fantasy Drama As Rhaegar Targaryen?

While ‘Game of Thrones’ often makes official announcements when it comes to welcoming new actors on the set, HBO has kept mum about the stars who have signed on to play new characters on the upcoming season.

Singer Devin Oliver, vocalist for the band I See Stars, recently posted a photo on Instagram, suggesting that he may have signed on to ‘Game of Thrones’ season 7.

However, he noted that he “may or may not,” which does not necessarily confirm his appearance on ‘Game of Thrones.’ Moreover, the award-winning series has only chosen three American actors to join the cast, including Peter Dinklage, Jason Momoa and Pedro Pascal, who was born in Chile but raised in the U.S.

Nonetheless, looking into this possible casting, there have been several noticeable things about Oliver. First, he sports the blonde hair that members of the Targaryen House have on ‘Game of Thrones.’ Second, he is a real singer, and Rhaegar Targaryen is said to have a natural singing talent; he is also expected to make an appearance in ‘Game of Thrones’ season 7.

While Rhaegar was known for carrying out a nasty war in Westeros after supposedly kidnapping Lyanna Stark, history tells fans otherwise that Daenerys’ older brother was a gentle character who loved to sing.

If Rhaegar is set to appear in the series next season, this is likely to include a flashback to the time when he was attempting to win the hand of Lyanna, Ned Stark’s sister. Aside from a flashback, it could possibly occur through Bran, who is expected to look for Stark family secrets, thanks to his Three-Eyed Raven powers.

An appearance from Rhaegan in ‘Game of Thrones’ season 7 will certainly bring more light to the storylines crossing through the Stark, Targaryen and Baratheon families. It would also bring on a more detailed look at the House of Targaryen, as viewers have only seen Daenerys’ cruel brother, Viserys, and her father, the Mad King Aerys.

Given the fact that the HBO fantasy drama will soon come to an end, it would be helpful to zoom in on the other parts of Westeros’ history, especially with fans putting in much time and effort putting two and two together.

Meanwhile, a new cast member that has certainly been confirmed as part of the upcoming installment is Jim Broadbent. The Oscar-winning actor, who previously signed on to the Harry Potter films as Professor Slughorn, will reportedly take on a “significant” role in ‘Game of Thrones.’

A popular speculation among fans is that Broadbent will portray an archmaester at the Citadel, the same location where Jon Snow’s good friend Samwell Tarly has arrived to begin his training as a maester and study the White Walkers.
