Latest on Android Nougat roll out

According to latest reports, Samsung is now testing the Android Nougat to the Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 Edge smartphones. This means the roll out of the new firmware may happen very soon. After latest Nexus smartphones already received the update, now is the time for Samsung devices to get their share of Nougat.

Sam Mobile reported the first batch of Android Nougat updates will be released before the year ends, probably on November or December. In addition, Trusted Reviews said Android users who have the latest Samsung smartphones will definitely receive the new OS in the next few months.

December last year, Samsung released the outgoing Android Marshmallow to its subscribers. That is just two months after Google released the firmware to Nexus devices. Industry experts believe the South Korean tech firm would also do the same for the latest Android Nougat. It is highly likely that the company will start the rollout to its flagship devices on December.

As always, the latest Samsung devices will get the Nougat first, and then it will gradually spread to older phones. In a GFXBench post, it shows a Galaxy S7 smartphone running on Android 7.0 Nougat. The post means the test build of Nougat is running well on the Galaxy S7. Also, it suggests that Samsung's Nougat roll out will happen sooner rather than later.

It is important for the company to test the new OS to make sure that it runs smoothly on its devices, tech experts explained.

Software update is a long and gradual process. It requires a partnership between smartphone makers, mobile carriers and software developer. In the case of Android Nougat, after Google released the OS, Samsung and other phone makers have to modify it to make compatible on their respective devices.

Furthermore, Samsung usually releases new Android system in phases. This is because the tech firm takes time to install new skin and features on stock Android.

Meanwhile, T-Mobile previously announced their subscribers that own Galaxy S7, Galaxy S7 Edge, Galaxy Note 7, Galaxy Note 5, Galaxy S6, and Galaxy S6 Edge Plus will receive the Nougat update soon.

As for the features of new Android Nougat, it has more intelligent notification shade than the Marshmallow. Its bundled notifications feature allows users to group their notifications from the same app together, and then expand it into individual items to see more details.

The Nougat also offers improved Doze mode. This feature puts a phone into a deeper sleep to conserve battery life after a period of inactivity.
