Head's coach, Blake Shelton, said no other type of performance was like Head's version of this song in the 11 seasons of The Voice. Shelton said the message of that song deeply touched many listeners. "More people have their own kind of relationship with God these days," he said, "or their own personal way they relate to God. I know I do."

Sundance's father, Roy Head, was in the band The Traits, best known for their 1965 hit, "Treat Her Right." When Sundance was 9, his older brother passed away in a tragic car accident, and his dad began to slow down his music career. At age 20, Sundance had the opportunity to record with ZZ Top through a connection from his dad, but started to play music professionally 13 years later. He put a band together called Sundance Head that plays all over Texas. His wife of nine years is his manager. He describes his genre as "Texas Music- Americana-Red Dirt."

"Me and Jesus" was written by Tom T. Hall, and has been performed by country's well-known singers, such as George Jones.

The lyrics of the song follow:

[Chorus]
Me and Jesus, got our own thing goin'
Me and Jesus, got it all worked out
Me and Jesus, got our own thing goin'
We don't need anybody to tell us what it's all about

[1st Verse]
I know a man, who once was a sinner
I know a man, who once was a drunk
And I know a man, who once was a looser
He went out one day and made an alter out of a stump

[2nd Verse]
Jesus brought me through all of my troubles
Jesus brought me through all of my trials
Jesus brought me through all of my heartaches
And I know that Jesus ain't gonna' forsake me now

[Chorus]

[3rd Verse]
We can't afford any fancy preachin'
We can't afford any fancy church
We can't afford any fancy singin'
You know Jesus got a lot of poor people out doin' his work
