Android 7.1.1 Nougat Rolls Out, Android 7.0 Nougat For Galaxy Note 5 Close To Release

The latest version of the Android mobile operating system is known as Nougat, keeping in line with the alphabetical order of desserts and all things sweet based on the first letter. Well, just like how there are several editions or sub-versions of each update, so too, does the Android Nougat mobile operating system version come with its fair share of slight revisions and updates.

Android 7.1.1 Nougat rollout in Turkey
The Android 7.1.1 Nougat update has been whispered to already roll out, at least for General Mobile 4G (Android One) users. Based on the screenshot that has been seen so far, this is but a minimal update, taking into consideration how the update itself weighs in at less than 250MB in size. Of course, it would always be advisable to take advantage of a Wi-Fi connection where any kind of downloads are concerned, but then again with data being so much more affordable these days, 250MB would also be all right over your direct data connection.

Android 7.1.1 Nougat is said to bring with it improvements made to security and stability as well as a handful of bug fixes -- something that is always more than welcome, especially in this day and age where malware seems to be all over the place. Originally touted to be available for the Google Pixel and Pixel XL smartphones, Nexus devices and Android One devices on December 6, it seems that the Android 7.1.1 Nougat update has happened earlier than expected. Initial reports point to General Mobile 4G (Android One) users picking up the update already, and there is at least one screenshot sent in by a General Mobile 4G user who lives in Turkey to further solidify that claim.

This latest update will also be accompanied by the December security patch, which has not been listed over at the latest Google Android Security Bulletin yet.

Over in Down Under, Vodafone Australia did make an earlier mention of the upcoming December 6 rollout date for the Android 7.1.1 Nougat update, citing it for the Nexus 6P. Vodafone Australia also mentioned that this will be an Over The Air (OTA) update that should be somewhere in the region of 650MB. Hopefully Google will step forward with the latest details concerning the Android 7.1.1 Nougat update as well as the December security patch sooner rather than later.

Samsung Galaxy Note 5 to receive Android 7.0 Nougat update soon
The Samsung Galaxy Note 5 might not be the latest smartphone in the market, but this does not mean that it does not deserve a shot at the Android 7.0 Nougat operating system. In fact, with the official Android 7.0 Nougat beta program being made available for the newer Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 edge flagships from Samsung, it would be understandable that devices one generation earlier from the current one too, would be in the running for some Nougat goodness.

The latest GFXBench benchmark does point to the now defunct Galaxy Note 7 getting its own Nougat update, although the benchmark is no longer available as it has been taken down. This might mean that the Galaxy Note 5 is next in tow, since the Galaxy Note 7’s Grace UX is being worked to run on the Galaxy Note 5 by the folks at Samsung, so the same could apply to the latest mobile operating system version.
