Creating a game is far from easy, especially in this day and age where there are simply so many different kinds of variables with which one should pay close attention to. In fact, achieving the right balance in any game is a tricky affair, which is why there are updates and patches being released from time to time for different titles. Take Blizzard’s Starcraft and Warcraft franchise as examples. Both games have more than a couple of races to play in, and making sure that one particular race’s unique strengths do not end up overpowering the others, while the same can be said for its weakness which might be one’s undoing if it is not properly programmed. Sports titles such as NBA 2K17 will depend a whole lot on player ratings when it comes to getting the best out of your team. Of course, having the right tactics and team formation would also go a long way in helping you secure victory on the court, but player statistics and ratings tend to be the main draw which gets everyone all interested, leading to some frenzied discussions online at times even.

The latest news and updates concerning the NBA 2K17 title would be seeing 2K Sports bring up Jimmy Butler’s rating, while Draymond Green gets a drop in his rating. We do wonder whether all of these ratings will impact the actual player’s feeling and emotions in the real world, but I suppose if I am earning such handsome money on the court as well as off it through endorsements and marketing deals, this is just a small matter of ego. Heck, if my virtual persona’s rating has dropped, I might even see this as a challenge to further increase my performance levels on the court so that I can improve in the next revision, perhaps? Either way, it would be a win-win situation.

Jimmy Butler would be pleased that his digital avatar has been given a bump to hit the 90 rating, and these ratings have been revised based on how the current crop of NBA stars are actually performing in the ongoing NBA season. I suppose it is improvements such as these that will help gamers keep coming back for more, since it offers as close as possible a real world representation in the digital format.

Other players who have not been mentioned earlier in the NBA 2K17 roster that have seen their ratings revised include the likes of Anthony Davis, Joel Embiid, and Tony Parker, among others. Anthony Davis of the New Orleans Pelicans has certainly soared in the latest ratings revision, hitting a rank of 94 after gaining three points. Joel Embiid of the Philadelphia 76ers ends up with a +3, being number 83 overall. As for Tarik Black of the Los Angeles Lakers, he managed to gain a +5 in order to improve his spot to 75.

Tony Parker of the San Antonio Spurs did not fare better this time around though, dropping by 3 to a 77 overall ranking. Expect additional player adjustments to happen throughout the progress of the NBA 2016-17 season.
