PlayStation Plus Subscription Will Be Free in February 2017

If you happen to own the Sony PS4 console, then having a PlayStation Plus subscription would be a good way to maximize the console if you love surprises. After all, at the end of each month, there will be an announcement made for PlayStation Plus subscribers on the number of free games that they can download and install. The caveat? You do not know what you are getting, and while triple A gems have been showcased before, those are few and far in between. It is a gamble, really, but a fun one. For those who have yet to give PlayStation Plus a try, Sony would like to entice you by providing you the opportunity to enjoy a free PlayStation Plus subscription for a limited time only later this month. It is more than just free games each month as shared in greater detail below.

Basically, we do know that PS4 owners will have a free rein in playing online for free between 22nd and 26th February, all without the need to be a PlayStation Plus subscriber beforehand. A PlayStation statement read, “All you need to do is get comfy, pick out your favourite games from your collection, pop them in your PS4 and you’ll find all the online modes unlocked and ready to play. So you don’t really have anything to lose by trying it out and you never know you might find that PlayStation Plus takes you to places you never thought possible where you can meet like minded gamers all looking for people to play with. You don’t need to sign up for anything – just get online and play. If you really enjoy the experience, don’t forget that if you sign up to a full PS Plus membership you also get access to two PS4 games every month, as well as exclusive discounts on PlayStation Store.”

Right now, the lines remain rather blurry as as to whether those who will jump aboard the PlayStation Plus bandwagon for free will also be able to download whatever PlayStation Plus February 2017 games which were released by Sony at the beginning of the month. Some of the titles were certainly quality ones, including LittleBigPlanet 3 and Not a Hero on PS4. Starwhal and Anna: Extended Edition for the PS3 was also made free, alongside Ninja Senki DX and TorqueL on the PS Vita. With Sony’s CrossBuy feature, some of these titles can also be downloaded and enjoyed on the PS4.

Basically, the exact time would be on 10.00am on 22nd February until 23.59pm on 26th February, so make sure that you set your clocks right in order to maximize the experience. Do you think that this method is effective in seeing a spike in PlayStation Plus subscribers for the month of March? That would be very difficult to tell, but what does Sony have to lose in the first place by offering such a teaser period? Assuming that they are successful in augmenting their subscriber base through this exercise, all our eyes would then be trained on Microsoft to see whether they will follow suit for their Xbox Live with Gold subscription.
