The Android 7.0 Nougat update has already arrived on a fair number of handsets, but there is still a large number of Android-powered smartphones out there that have yet to pick up the latest version of Android. This is one of the drawbacks of modern day handsets -- you will always need to make sure that you have one of the more recent models in the market, otherwise you would be left behind in the operating system update race after a while. As for the flagship 2015 smartphones from LG, the LG G4 and the LG V10, what are their fates? We have news from an anonymous South Korean official that the LG G4 and LG V10 will indeed, be on the receiving end of the Android 7.0 Nougat update.

Basically, the LG V10 will receive the Android 7.0 Nougat update some time in the second quarter of the year, which should fall between April to June. As for the smaller sized LG G4, it will only be able to hop aboard the Android 7.0 Nougat bandwagon some time in the third quarter of 2017 -- that is, July to September. No surprises then, if we were to see the LG V10 and LG G4 in South Korea pick up the Android 7.0 Nougat update first before the rest of the world will follow. However, LG has mentioned that details concerning other markets in the future will only be revealed some time down the road without providing any specific time window.

This news would be a great relief to owners of both handsets, as it would be a blunder on LG’s side if they were to avoid rolling out the Android 7.0 Nougat update for the LG G4 and LG V10. After all, it is not as though these devices are old and lack the processing muscle to handle the apps of today. In fact, the kind of hardware packed underneath the respective hoods are more than able to surpass the entry level models of 2017. Not only that, such an official statement from LG would also further quell whispers and rumors that the LG V10 and LG G4 would not receive the Android 7.0 Nougat update despite being less than a couple of years old.

LG did mention at first that the hardware of these two devices are incompatible with Android 7.0 Nougat, and it did not take too long before owners of these handsets stated their case -- that the LG manufactured Nexus 5X also made use of the similar Snapdragon 808 processor that is found on the LG V10 and LG G4, and yet has received the Android 7.0 Nougat update already.

With the kind of backlash that LG received in South Korea, it looks like they are certainly pulling up their jockstraps and rolling up their sleeves to keep their customers happy, especially when 2016 was not such a great year for the consumer electronics giant with the lacklustre reception of the LG G5 and the LG V20. Better late than never, right?
