"Wonder Woman" not only won critical acclaims as the movie is also a smashing success at the box office and hauled in so far $228.3 million of total gross, $103 million of which contributed by the Warner Bros. film's ongoing U.S. theater run. A sequel already awaits star Gal Gadot but with the raving reviews and the ringing cash registers across the globe, "Wonder Woman 2" is all but confirmed.
This early, Warner Bros. executives can't wait to proclaim the projects lined up for Gadot. According to The Hollywood Reporter, movie fans can expect Gadot to appear as Diana Prince or Wonder Woman in upcoming movies. "I am sure we will be seeing a lot more of Diana on the big screen," the publication reported WB executive Jeff Goldstein as saying.
With that seal of approval, WB is somehow hinting that apart from her scheduled appearance on "Justice League" Wonder Woman is set to be seen in another stand-alone film, indicating that Gadot and movie director Patty Jenkins stand to collaborate again not only for sequel number two. To be sure, WB would be hard at work to make Wonder Woman a lucrative movie franchise.
So what would be the minimal expectations at least for Wonder Woman 2?
But before the sequel number two, Gadot will suit up as Diana Prince/Wonder Woman for the third time in Justice League on November 2017. As expected, ABC News said the superheroine will team up with Batman, Superman and the rest of the evil-fighting enhanced team. The fight will be mostly against Darkseid but it's highly likely that the goddess Diana will meet a counterpart on the dark side.
"Expect to be seeing God against God again," the report said without elaborating on what kind of enemies apart from Darkseid the Justice League will be skirmishing with.
A changed Wonder Woman
As pointed to by ABC News, Diana Prince told Bruce Wayne in "Dawn of Justice" that she's done working with men whose expertise seems only waging war with one another, alluding to the World War I setting of Wonder Woman. But in teaming up with the Justice League and working with a human that is Batman, it was apparent that Diana had a life-changing experience that she was convinced man is redeemable after all.
Choice of weapons
The magic lasso will surely remain and so is the shield. Diana's sword has been destroyed by the God of War Ares but since the same blade was used against Doomsday in Dawn of Justice it will reappear in Justice League. And the circumstances of how the weapon was resurrected will be up to the JL filmmaker.
Steve Trevor to return?
In Wonder Woman, Steve Trevor, played by Chris Pine, died a hero's death but fans can't resist asking the question: Is there a chance Diana's love interest will return to the screen and Pine still playing the character? In the comics, according to Comicbook.com, Trevor also died but has been resurrected a number of time so the questions raised seem valid.
But doing the same in the movie version will be a dilemma, Jenkins said, which is like saying it's next to impossible. On the other hand, Pine would love to reprise the role but doing so could mean him, the actor jokingly said, becoming Wonder Man.
