First World Chinese Christian Leadership Seminar Begins in Taipei

Organized by Chinese Churches Center on World Evangelism, Hong Kong Church Renewal Movement committee and Chinese Christian Evangelistic Association, the 2005 First World Chinese Christian Leadership Seminar is being held in Taipei Tienmou International conference center from June 14th till June 17th.

Within these days, the Chinese Christian leaders from both overseas and mainland have gathered to address specific topics drawing from their experience in ministry work, and they will cooperate to facilitate interaction and communication between Chinese Christian leaders from every region.

From early last century, many scholars have stated that “Twenty-first century will be the century of the Chinese!” The main organizing committee expressed that Chinese Churches are very willing to continue the race with the last baton of the Great Commission and to prepare themselves much more urgently; it does not matter if it means to help renewal and development of churches or to serve in the work of ecumenical movement. They hope that Chinese Churches can prepare themselves to face the waves of revival, and Chinese Christian leaders must be willing to carry the burdens, lead with courage in facing the challenges of the future. This is the theme of this year’s conference.

The keynote speakers, who come from Hong Kong, Taiwan, Malaysia, and Canada, include Rev. Hsia Tsung-chien, Rev. Yang Chung-lu, Rev. Wang Kuei-hung, Rev. Chou Shen-chu, Rev. Liu Shao-kang, Rev. Kou Shao-en, Rev. Pai Chung-liang, and they will speak on Christian leadership, group leadership, training and development of Christian leadership, and equipment of leadership.

In addition to the keynote speakers, various influential speakers from Hong Kong will lead the discussion on topics of “Servant and Leadership”, “Leadership Quality”, “Empowering Christian Leadership”, “Christian Leadership Development and Methods to Liven Small Groups. The topical seminars will use Mandarin primarily, while the workshops will use both Mandarin and Cantonese.

Apart from this, the Second World Chinese Theological Education Consultation Conference will be held from June 16th till June 18th, and it will use the theme of “Inheriting Commission, Facing the Challenges of 21st Century Chinese Seminaries”. Rev. Chou Lien-hua, Asia Baptist Graduate Theological Seminary president, and around 20 seminary presidents from world-wide will explore the direction of Chinese seminary education and training.
