In the light of the growing concern over the negative impact of homosexuality on morality and traditional families, a series of conferences centered on family issues is set to be held in San Francisco this month.
Co-organized by Traditional Family Coalition (TFC), Great Commission Center International (GCCI) and Chinese Christian Herald Crusade (CCHC), the Family Conference will have features the presentation by renowned Christian evangelicals and pro-family experts from California, including Rev. Thomas Wang, chairman of GCCI; Dr. Bill Tam, chairman of TFC; Dr. Melvin Wong, a California-based Licensed Clinical Psychologist and Rev. Lawrence Chan, chairman of America Chinese Evangelical Seminary (ACES).
Director of Public Policy & Strategic Programs from the California Family Council, Peter Henderson, is also invited as one of the guest speakers, showing the initiative of Chinese organizations to reach out and unite with American organizations in a common effort to battle against homosexuality.
On May 20, the first Conference will be held at the First United Presbyterian Church of San Francisco from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. The language will be in Cantonese and the theme is "Challenges faced by Modern Family and Church." Another Conference in Mandarin will be taken place on June 10 at America Chinese Evangelical Seminary.
According to the tentative schedule, the one-day Family Conference will be divided into two parts. In the morning, the theme is set to be "Marriage." Marriage and family from the biblical and theological point of view, divorce, abortion, materialism, the challenge of legalization of same-sex marriage for churches are some of the issues to be discussed. The afternoon session will focus on parenting- about how to educate the children the correct moral values and how to protect them from the temptation of secular culture.
During a TFC seminar on homosexuality in March, the renowned Chinese evangelical Rev. Thomas Wang calls on all Chinese churches in the U.S. to realize the threat of homosexuality on the next generation, and to take a more active role in confronting the crisis.
Chairman of TFC Dr. Bill Tam has also pointed out that homosexuality is a movement that belongs to the Satan, therefore churches must awake to their responsibility and unite together to "say no" to such fallen trend.
