On Sept. 14, Christian Witness Theological Seminary held its 35th anniversary thanksgiving fundraising banquet, gathering the alumni and friends, at Crown Plaza Hotel in Foster City. Hundreds of ministers from the Bay area crowded to show their support and their blessings hoping that God will continue to use the school to achieve his will.

According to CWTS, the banquet featured Dr. Esther Yue L. Ng’s sharing of the strengths of the school, choir performances by Chinese Christian Church Music Institute for Worship Choir directed by Dr. Richard Lin, two testimonies of two senior friends of the school, speech on the future goals and song dedication by the president Rev. David Cheung. In addition, experienced theological educator Rev. Johann Yuek-Hon Lai delivered the night’s theme speech titled “Threats and Challenges to the Theological Education.”

In his speech, Lai pointed out the key problems facing today’s theological education: overemphasis on scholastic aptitude, neglect the need for spirituality. He urged the Chinese theological educators to place the emphasis in developing three aspects of those studying theology; spirituality, practicality, and knowledge of how to work with churches.

On the schools website, the pictures, mp3 recording of the speaker, testimonies of the alumni and friends, president’s song, and the entire recording of the even have been posted. Please visit the website at CWTS.
