What Does It Mean That God Is Holy?

. . . just as he who called you is holy, so be holy in all you do. 1 Peter 1:15

Isaiah was one of God's great prophets. God also spoke to Isaiah. God told Isaiah to tell people that one day the Savior of the world would come.

One day God spoke to Isaiah in a vision. A vision is like a dream. Isaiah said that he saw God seated on a throne, high and exalted. Above God were angels. The angels called out to each other, "Holy, holy, holy is the Lord Almighty; the whole earth is full of his glory" (Isaiah 6:3). When Isaiah saw the vision, he was afraid. He saw how sinful he was compared to God. The vision helped him to see that God is holy.

What does it mean that God is holy? He is 100% pure. He never sins–He is perfect. God always does what is right. He is completely good. God hates sin.

If we are sinners, how can we pray to God? God wants us to talk to Him. He told Isaiah not to be afraid. He also tells us not to be afraid. When we believe in the Lord Jesus as our Savior, He takes our sin away and makes us clean so that we can talk to God who is holy.
