Hong Kong Alliance for Family (HKAF) released a statement against the Anti-Sexual Orientation Discrimination Law, and called upon the public to sign together.
According to what HKAF said in the statement, Hong Kong Home Affair Bureau would likely start a public survey in April to find out the viewpoint of the public on sexual orientation discrimination. If more than half supports the legislation of the Anti-Sexual Orientation Discrimination, Home Affair Bureau will therefore start the legislative process.
In the statement, HKAF emphasized their three main argumentations: to tolerate homosexuals versus to encourage homosexual activities; against the discrimination towards homosexuals versus for the legislation of anti-sexual orientation discrimination law; the issue of homosexual is still very disputed, it will only split the society if the government legislates the anti-sexual orientation discrimination law by force.
The statement also cited several cases from the countries where the anti-sexual orientation discrimination law was passed years ago, to illustrate how the law will deprive the freedom of the ones who have a different opinion towards homosexuality.
"It will open the door to homosexual marriage," said HKAF in the statement. "...it will also bring a domino offect. If the government legistate anti-discrimination law for homosexuals, it has no excuse not to legistate same laws for other sex orientations such as incest, catamite, SM, ..."
"Our basic stand is that the society should tolerate homosexuals, however, the public should have the right to oppose homosexual activities. We are against the discrimination towards homosexuals, but we are also against to punish the ones who are considered having 'discriminated' homosexuals by law..."
HKAF plans to collect signatures from the public till April 22, afterwards, they will post the statement and all the signatures on Ming Pao, estimated on April 29.
