Approximately 300 Pastors from over 40 states attended FRC's first "Watchmen on the Wall" Pastor's Briefing in Washington D.C. this week to learn about the role of pastors in educating the Christian community about the nation’s cultural battles.

“The purpose of the Pastor's Briefing is to equip our nation's spiritual leaders with the information and tools they'll need to do just that,” said President of Family Research Council Tony Perkins in his daily update.

Speakers included Chuck Colson, D. James Kennedy, Sen. Sam Brownback (R-KS), Sen. Rick Santorum (R-PA), Rep. Walter Jones (R-NC), Bishop Wellington Boone of Promise Keepers, Dr. Laurence White of Vision America, and Father Frank Pavone.

The focus of the talks was directed toward saving marriage.

Dr. White told those in attendance yesterday, "Pastors don't need to address ‘politics’ but they must preach about the moral issues of our day. If Christians will participate in the public square and political life," he said, "America will be a different place."

According to Perkins, many of the pastors stopped by FRC for breakfast before heading to Capitol Hill to meet and pray with their representatives and senators.
