Sep 21, 2004 09:37 PM EDT

The LaFe 2004 Conference has been scheduled for December 27-31, 2004 in San Diego, California. The conference is for Latino students to explore God, faith, and life experiences so that they can serve a society where Latinos will have increasing influence.

At the conference, participants will study issues in ethnic identity and leadership from the book of Esther. As they seek God, embrace their Latino identity, and respond to God's call to mission, participants will be empowered by God's love to serve churches, communities, and society with purpose and confidence.

LaFe stands for Latino Fellowship, a ministry of InterVarsity fellowship. LaFe began twenty-five years ago as an act of faith and out of a strong desire to truly becom ean ethnically and culturally diverse movement that includes Latino students.

Presently, LaFe is incorporated into hundreds of InterVarsity chapters nationwide, with additional LaFe-specific chapters at such schools as UCLA, UC-Berkeley, the University of Texas at El Paso, and UC-Davis. With over forty campus ministers working with Latino students, twenty-eight of whom are Latino themselves, InterVarsity is serious about equiping Latino students for present and future leadership.
