New York - The Student Center of Great Commission Bible Church held its Easter Evangelizing Meeting on March 18.

Leader Simon Li delivered message under the title of "Jesus: The True Hero". Through the story of the death and the resurrection of Lazarus, he told the students to have faith in Jesus' power and love, and that Jesus is the true hero of the world.

He especially emphasized the verse of John 11:35: "Jesus wept." Jesus is not someone far away from us, Simon said, but he shares our sadness and hardships, and weeps together with us. He urged the students to have conviction on it, that the invisible God is full of love and emotions.

After the sermon, ten student leaders performed a pantomime titled "Church". The pantomime told the story of a person who could not find true joy in the world. As the person entered the church, he discovered how great of a sinner he was, yet he still was able to receive so much love unconditionally. He saw the image of Jesus Christ who served and died on the cross, and realized the true meaning of resurrection.

The Student Center of GCBC has been running for almost three years. According to Director Simon Li, as most of the students there are new immigrants from Fujian, China, they are facing a big cultural shock in the U.S. What's more, since their parents need to work from morning to night, they often feel lonely and have no one to share their feelings.

However, the students grow day by day in the Student Center. Now there are more than twenty students attending their weekly gathering, and the directors are raising up the best ones among them to be leaders. Justin, 16, who became a "true" Christian in the Student Center, said with confidence, "We the students are taking the lead very soon."
