Heart Cry for Revival

Revival, prayer, repentance, love, seeking God - all of those mentioned words describe the call that was issued to Christian leaders attending the "Heart Cry for Revival" conference held at Billy Graham's retreat center, The Cove. Leaders attending the meeting listened as leaders in America's revival movement challenged those in attendance to seek God to work in their lives and communities.

The line up of speakers included Richard Owen Roberts, one of America's preeminent historians; Dr. Henry Blackaby of Blackaby Ministries International; Dr. Dennis Kinlaw, President Emeritus of Asbury College; Dr. Erwin Lutzer, Senior Pastor of Moody Church in Chicago; Jim Cymbala, pastor of Brooklyn Tabernacle Church in New York City; Nancy Leigh DeMoss, host of the Revive Our Hearts radio program; and Sammy Tippit of the Sammy Tippit Ministries.

“Everyone left the conference with a sense of urgency,” commented one of the leaders at the conference.

Leaders met after the meetings concluded and decided to sponsor another conference in 2005. Normally, the conferences are held every other year. However, there seemed to be a sense of urgency about the need for revival in America. There wasn't enough room at The Cove for all wanting to attend this year's conference. Nearly 100 people had to be turned away.

Sammy Tippit commented, "God has worked in my own heart. Even though I was a speaker, I felt that God was speaking to me about many things. I believe that He wants to send revival among leaders of His people. I want that revival to begin with me." His words seemed to express the desire of many of those in attendance.
