Last week, the first historic gathering of Chinese Christian leaders from restaurant ministries and believers from the restaurant businesses from around the world took place in United States.

On June 8th, the first World Christian Restaurant Ministries leadership conference concluded with grace at the Chinese Christian Herald Crusade Center in New York City. The participants received equipping to share the gospel, were challenged to serve, and were filled with vision and grace upon their return to their respective fields to put the word into practice in the restaurant ministry – walking an extra mile for the sake of the gospel.

It was announced at the conference that they will set June 8 as the “World Christian Restaurant Day”, where Christians will show their concern and care towards those in the restaurant businesses. Through “June 8 – World Christian Restaurant Day”, the restaurant ministry leaders wish to remind and encourage believers to bring the gospel into the restaurants, making them as the gathering point to care for those in the broad but base-level service industry.

Moreover, CCHC executive director Rev. John Lo ordained Amen Tang and his spouse as WCRM’s executive director and vice executive director. Besides promoting CCHC’s restaurant ministries in every area, they will give their full support to the development of different types of ministries in WCRM.

While attending the conference, WCRM’s staffs each shared a common inspiration and they saw the first WCRM’s leadership conference as a historic day, where the flames of the gospel will be spread throughout the world, forming a movement of revival, making a gospel explosion in the restaurants, flipping the world around.

WCRM is a network of Christian restaurant ministries from around the world. Whiles the first restaurant ministry has been established in England, Rev. David Cheung, a former member of Hong Kong district councils and the founder and president of Christian Witness Theological Seminary, and Rev. Frank Cheung took up this vision of bringing the gospel to those in the restaurant businesses and founded the Europe Restaurant Businesses Gospel Ministry in 1992, which eventually spread out through all of Europe. Since then, the same vision has been adopted by Chinese Christians in numerous areas around the world.
