Interview with Ray Comfort – 'Evolution vs. God' Movie

Ray Comfort recently released “Evolution vs. God: Shaking the Foundations of Faith,” a movie that he says boils evolution down to misguided trust. The movie was originally entitled “Famous Atheists,” but after interviewing evolutionary scientists from the University of Southern California and the University of California Los Angeles, Comfort realized that their answers to his questions revealed a lack of evidence for evolution and decided to change direction with the film.

Comfort is the CEO of Living Waters Publications, and has a heart for discipleship and evangelism. He came to know Christ at the age of 22 after realizing that upon death, everything that he held dear in life would be taken away from him. “Happy as I was,” said Comfort in an interview with The Gospel Herald this morning, “life took on a sense of futility, very similar to what Solomon spoke of in Ecclesiastes.” That all changed when Comfort received Jesus as his Savior – “When I became a Christian, death lost its sting. I found everlasting life, I exploded with joy and gladness, and I haven’t shut up since,” he said with joyful confidence.

Over 6,000 people have downloaded “Evolution vs. God,” and its promo has received over 240,000 views. Comfort only interviews believers in evolution in the film, and says that they debunk evolution with their own words within 16 minutes of the movie. They are “pushed into a corner, having to admit there’s no scientific evidence for the fantasy of Darwinian evolution,” says Comfort. He maintains that those who believe in evolution are resting on “blind faith – it does not stand up to the scientific method.”

The topic of evolution is widely debated, even among Christians. Comfort encourages those who agree with the theory to watch his film - “if you have someone who believes in evolution, show them this movie and it will shake them to the core,” he says. The movie has received enthusiastic endorsements from major creationist organizations and well-known apologists as well.

Some atheists have given “Evolution vs. God” sneering reviews. Comfort reasons that this is because their underlying desire is to create their own morality, and they see the theory of evolution as a way to have self-autonomy. If there is no God, then they can define what is right and wrong – they can be their own god.

The premiere for “Evolution vs. God” will take place at the Answers Mega Conference in Tennessee on July 22. The movie is currently available for download, and will be released on DVD next month. Comfort urges parents to show this film to their children -“Drones of young people are leaving the church because they are convinced that Darwinian evolution is scientific and the Bible is nothing but mythology …[but] it is the exact opposite.” He maintains that it is evolution which rests on blind faith, and that the Biblical account of creation is completely trustworthy.
