PlayStation Plus Free Games For October and November 2015; Software Update 3.00 for PS4

Oct 14, 2015 05:41 PM EDT

PlayStation Plus subscribers are always interested in knowing what free games are available, but usually the new results do not appear until towards the end of the month.  We already know the PlayStation Plus Free Games for October 2015, but the PlayStation Plus Free Games for November 2015 remain a mystery save for rumors.

According to the PlayStation blog, one thing that has changed in October 2015 for the PS4 is the software update to 3.00, which includes several new features. For example, there is a new Events app to give the user an overview of activities taking place in the games that the PlayStation user will play most, not to mention official broadcasts.  PS4 users will also be able to create and join communities around shared interests like games, genres, and more.

There is also a dedicated section for the PlayStation Plus, accessible from the PS4's homescreen.  It is here where you can see the monthly free games to download, as well as deals for PS Plus members, not to mention all the game redeemed on the PS Plus on PS4.  By the way, PS Plus members have online storage that has been increased to 10 GB.

Other bonuses include sharing video clips to Twitter, livestreams to YouTube Live, request to share play and broadcast, PNG screenshots, Favorite groups, and stickers.  It really is quite an update.

As far as rumors for November 2015, GamerDude on YouTube thought that perhaps toward the end of the month there could be some horror-themed games, as it would be Halloween.  This was in the hopes that a AAA game would make it on the free list, and it could be that the PS3 version of The Evil Within could be that. Perhaps PlayStation will open up their Vote-to-play option again.

We'll see more on this as it develops for November 2015, which will be toward the end of October.   In the meantime, here are the free games for the month of October.

The PlayStation blog has a complete list of what games are available for October 2015.  There are two games made for the PS4 and PS Vita.  The first is Super Meat Boy, which was expected to be in the lineup.  If you are not familiar with Super Meat Boy, the player controls Meat Boy as he tries to rescue his girlfriend Bandage Girl from Dr. Fetus.  The gameplay is a difficult platformer as Meat Boy uses his ability to jump and escape a lot of very sharp obstacles.

The second game available for the PS4 and PS Vita is Broken AgeBroken Age, according to the Steam Store, is "a family friendly, hand-animated, puzzle-filled adventure game with an all-star cast that includes Elijah Wood, Jack Black, and Masasa Moyo".  This "coming of age" story was designed by Tim Schafer, who has designed other hit games like Grim Fandango, Day of the Tentacle, and a few Monkey Island games.

For the PS3, it is possible to download Chariot.  The official website describes this game as a co-op platformer that can be played alone or with a friend.  The one or two players take the roles of a brave princess and her beautiful fiancée as they move the departed king's coffin-on-wheels through 25 levels set in 5 underground environments.  Yes, that is an unusual premise, and what makes it even more unusual is that occasionally the king's ghost will guide the two players along the way.

There are two games available for the PS3 and PS Vita that include Kickbeat and Kung Fu Rabbit.  Kung Fu Rabbit is what it sounds like, a game where the player plays a rabbit who knows Kung Fu.  In this case, the main character must go on a quest after all of the baby rabbits are abducted by unknown invaders.

As for Kickbeat, it also has a Kung Fu theme, but it is a rhythm game.  It is also a fighting game as well.  It sounds interesting, and the Steam Store says it features fully 3D characters and high energy music, and allows the user to put their own music in for custom KickBeat tracks.

For both PS4 and PS3 is Unmechanical: Extended.  According to Grip Games, the game is a puzzle adventure game that "combines tricky puzzle solving, alluring exploration, and an engrossing atmosphere".  Unmechanical: Extended takes place in a world of flesh, rock, and steel, and the action is about a robot trapped in an underground complex, who must make his way up to freedom by solving a lot of puzzles.
