‘Red Dead Redemption 2’ Release Date; Is Backwards Compatibility for original Game a Sign that Sequel is On the Way?

There is something to be said for Red Dead Redemption, as many fans of the old-west open world game are looking forward to the sequel.  By the way, Red Dead Redemption is a sequel to Red Dead Revolver, which came out in 2004.  Since Red Dead Redemption came out in 2010, one would think that a sequel to Red Dead Redemption would be out by now.  The good news is that the original game, originally designed for the Xbox 360, is finally coming to the Xbox One thanks to the power of backwards compatibility.  However, this backwards compatibility could be a sign that Red Dead Redemption 2 could be on the way, and this is what is known about the potential release date.

According to iDigitalTimes, the original Red Dead Redemption game is coming to the Xbox One via Backwards Compatibility on Friday, July 8th.  This really hasn't been any big secret, as the issue of backwards compatibility for the Xbox One means that a lot of games that originally appeared on the Xbox 360 are moving up to the Xbox One.

According to Expert Reviews, you should be able to pay Red Dead Redemption on the Xbox One if you own a copy of the 2010 Xbox 360 version of the game.  If you don't have one, Amazon has it listed for a very low price.

The issue is that with the backwards compatibility of the original Red Dead Redemption, it puts pressure on Rockstar and Take-Two Interactive to get a sequel out.  Considering that E3 2016, the big video game convention of the L.A. Convention Center that occurred in mid-June, has passed without any news, perhaps a sequel is not so close to being on the way.

There was a rumor that there would be a Red Dead reveal trailer getting pulled at the last minute of E3.  Apparently, the trailer had content of shooting that would have reminded viewers of the Orlando shooting.  These rumors have been denied.

So, when will Red Dead Redemption 2 announce its release date?  Some believe that it could be announced at Gamescom in August, and Take-Two might use this spotlight to announce Red Dead Redemption 2, which would really turn heads.

As for what the game will be about, there has been a lot of speculation that Red Dead Redemption 2 will be some kind of prequel.  The reason for that comes from a leaked screenshot of a map, which shows regions that shouldn't be there if the sequel takes place after the original Red Dead Redemption game.

Considering that Red Dead Redemption is coming to Xbox One, is there any possibility of the game coming to the PS4?  Considering that Rockstar is porting The Warriors, one can't help but wonder if this game is on the way.
