There Is More to Nintendo NX Than Just ‘The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild’: Mario, Metroid Prime, Donkey Kong Country, and more Pokémon Games?

Most people will agree that Nintendo didn't make the best choices when it came to the Wii U, and its low sales has led to its replacement of the Nintendo NX.  What is strange is that at E3 2016, the big video game convention held annually at the Los Angeles Convention Center last June, Nintendo chose to focus only on one game with The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild rather than the entire Nintendo NX console and some of their games.  However, there are plans for the Nintendo NX, and they include Nintendo's big intellectual properties like Mario, Metroid, Donkey Kong, and possibly Pokémon.

There is a report from iDigitalTimes saying that even though the Nintendo Wii U game sales haven't been doing so well, that didn't stop the company from preparing for the future.  They have been developing games for the Nintendo NX for quite some time, as they want to be prepared for their next generation system.

So what kind of games are coming for the NX?  Well, it is Nintendo, so they will want to keep their intellectual properties alive, particularly their golden boy Mario.  It looks like they are working on two flagship games with a new 3D Mario game form the Super Mario Galaxy and Super Mario 3D World game.  Also, it looks like the developers of Donkey Kong Country Returns and Metroid Prime are working on something.

So, will the next or NX version of Donkey Kong Country be happening?  Well, if that happens, then the Nintendo NX will have no shortage of platformers.  It would be good if Metroid should be making a comeback, as that franchise with its female protagonist, Samus Aran, really shouldn't just be discontinued.

Of course, the Wii U got a real shot in the arm with the popular video game shooter of Splatoon.  It is doubtful that Nintendo will allow this particular franchise will die either.  So there will more than likely be a Splatoon 2, or Splatoon: Resurgence, or whatever they want to call it.  I would imagine that there will be some sort of NX version for Star Fox Zero, and you know that there will be a new Super Smash Brothers coming soon.

One of the things that is the big question mark is Pokémon.  Nintendo really has had a great shot in the arm to their stock price with the popularity of Pokémon GO, which means that the company is really rethinking their plan to maximize on how to milk more profits on that.
