2016 Smartwatches: Apple Watch 2 and Samsung Gear S3 Release Date, Specs and Rumors

We would finally see the launching of Apple Watch 2 and Samsung Gear S3 next month. Based on the latest reports, two of the most-awaited smartwatches from Apple and Samsung will debut in September. These new gadgets are expected to come with updated features, new sensors and sophisticated to design.

According to respected KGI Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, Apple Watch 2 will be announced in September, alongside with iPhone 7. Kuo, who has been accurately predicting the specs of upcoming Apple products, also states that the next-generation wearable from Cupertino will boast GPS connectivity.

The inclusion of GPS in the smartwatch is good news for athletic gadget lovers. The sensor will finally transform the Apple Watch into the legit fitness tracker. The current Apple Watch is a fairly good fitness-tracking device, but it lacks GPS, making it far from the ideal choice for runners and cyclists, as per the report from Yahoo News.

Furthermore, Apple Watch 2 is expected to have a faster TSMC-built processor, barometer sensor, and better water-proof body. There's also mention that the next-gen smartwatch will be powered by a long-lasting battery.

However, those who want to have LTE connection in Apple Watch 2 are set to be disappointed. Kuo pointed out that the LTE-enabled watches from Apple will not become available this year.

As for the specs of Samsung Gear S3, it would become available with new sensors. The smartwatch is said to come with built-in GPS, altimeter, barometer, and speedometer. All of these new sensors will please athletic Samsung Gear users.
