Asus and Samsung unveiled their latest smartwatches at IFA 2016 in Berlin. ZenWatch 3 and Gear S3 are two of the most awaited smartwatches of the year. Both have the latest technology and new trackers. Now, let's see which is the best smartwatch: Asus ZenWatch 3 or Samsung Gear S3?

To begin let's start with the specs of Samsung Gear S3. The wearable comes with two versions: the Gear S3 Classic and the Gear S3 Frontier.

Both models have IP68 water-resistance and long-lasting batteries than their predecessors. Also, both watches run on Tizen operating system.

For the difference between the two, the S3 Frontier is the only one that has LTE connection. In addition, it is slightly heavier with 2.18 ounces, compare to the new S3 Classic's 2.0 ounces.

Longer battery is a welcome addition to the new Gear S3 smarwatch. Both models are powered by 380mAh cell. This is a significant improvement from last year's models which only offered 250mAh and 300mAh battery power.

In terms of processing power, the new Gear S3 models have 768MB RAM, bigger that than last year's 512MB. The new models also have 1GHz dual-core processors and 4GB built-in storage.

For connectivity options, there's Wi-Fi, GPS, Bluetooth, and NFC on board for both Samsung Gear S3 watches. Plus, they are equipped with heart-rate sensor, barometer, accelerometer and gyroscope for active users.

Wired reported Samsung Gear S3 will be available through T-Mobile, Verizon and AT&T. We expect the smartwatch will go on sale later this year.

Now, let's check out the features of ZenWatch 3. Asus claims the smartwatch has solid fitness credentials with precise tracking abilities for sport-specific activities. Not only that, the watch has the latest Snapdragon 2100 Wear processor, which gives a 25 percent efficiency boost.

With important power saving features, wearers would be able to use the smartwatch for longer time. One of the biggest anxieties faced by smartwatch owners is battery drain. Now, Asus offers "HyperCharge" for ZenWatch 3. The company says the watch can have 60 percent battery in just 15 minutes of charging.

Design-wise, the wearable sports a new round design, which is a departure from the boring square design of its predecessor. It also comes in three different colors: rose gold, gunmetal and silver.

For display, it has 400 by 400 resolution or about 287ppi. At first glance, the watch is vivid, bright and nice to look at.

A report from Engadget says Asus ZenWatch 3 will become available this fall.
