It seems like films are no longer stand-alone anymore, as the big blockbusters are usually planned as trilogies or part of some new Cinematic Universe that is the latest thing.  It probably won't be too long before movies will be the next TV shows, only bigger.  One such hit franchise is Transformers, a film series that already has four movies under its belt, and will soon be joined by a fifth one.  This is what is known about Transformers 5, or Transformers: The Last Knight, Release Date, Cast, and Setting Rumors.

A recent report from Cinemablend says that executive producer Lorenzo di Bonaventura isn't too worried about "sequel fatigue" with the Transformers franchise.  He even talked about Transformers 19, if it went so high.

The film series already has at least two more films on the way, and there is even talk of a spin-off movie with Bumblebee.  There is also talk of essentially created this "Hasbro Cinematic Universe" with intellectual properties like ROM Spaceknight, MASK, Visionaries, and other toys in the mix.

There is a report from Game N Guide saying that some of the main action scenes for Transformers 5 could take place in Alnwick Castle in England.  Mark Wahlberg, who is reprising his role as the inventor Cade Yeager, was visible on the set.

Also reported to be on the set are the cars, according to The Gamers Drop.  Bumblebee will be a 2017 Chevrolet Camaro, and then there are other characters like Hot Rod, the Lamborghini Centenario; Drift, a former Decepticon turned Autobot, as a Mercedes-AMG GT R; and Crosshairs, who is a Chevrolet Corvette C7 Stingray.

The plot for the fifth film is pretty hush/hush, as the imdb page says nothing.  It also says that Anthony Hopkins is in the film, but who is he playing?  Well, it is speculated that he will be "The Creator".  Perhaps he is the being who created the Autobots and Decepticons, instead of the established canon of the animated series which proved to be the five-faced Quintessons.

This makes a lot of sense, because all rumors about Transformers 5 point to a return to Cybertron.  This means that the Autobots and Decepticons will be spending a lot of time in space, like they did in the original 1986 Transformers animated movie.  By the way, it was the film that first introduced the Quintessons.

There are a lot of rumors saying that Transformers 5 could take place in some kind of medieval realm with King Arthur.  This certainly would justify the subtitle of The Last Knight, and it would explain the shooting in English.  By the way, it is also reported that Transformers: The Last Knight will be taking place in Havana, Phoenix, and Detroit.

Transformers: The Last Knight will be appearing in theaters on June 23, 2017.  This is the last Transformers movies to be directed by Michael Bay, and then someone else will have to take over.
